With all precincts now reporting, unofficial results from the Cook County Clerk’s office, show Kristian “Krissie” Harris and Juan Geravaris winning commandingly to finish out City Council terms in the city’s 2nd and 9th Wards.
In the city’s 2nd Ward, Harris had amassed 696 votes or 54.29%of the vote compared to 511 votes or 39.86% for Darlene Murray Cannon and 75 votes or 5.85% for Patricia Gregory, unofficial results showed.
In the 9th Ward, on the city’s south end, Juan Geracaris received 877 votes or 67.41% compared to 424 votes or 32.59% for Kathelyn “Kathy” Hayes.
Both Harris and Geracaris had been appointed by Mayor Daniel Biss to fill the seats until today’s election, and Biss had strongly endorsed the candidates in the special election.
If the results are certified, Harris and Geracaris will fill out the remaining years on the current council’s terms, running until the next municipal election in 2025.
