A request for a zoning variation to allow a reduced number of parking spaces in the conversion of the former Varsity Theater building at 1706-10 Sherman Ave., into luxury apartments is expected to come before the City Council’s Planning & Development Committee Monday, March 14. Steven Rogin, of the Varsity LLC, and Chris Dillion, of Campbell and Coyne, are requesting zoning relief to allow 18 spaces (two on-site and 16 off-site) where 28 are required in their request for a variation. Developers are planning a luxury apartments to replace the theater which has been shuttered since the mid-1980s.
